Grimandi Art Gallery presents "Heads Up" a solo exhibition by award-winning master artist, Hélène DeSerres. She is internationally acclaimed for her multi-disciplinary artistry. Born in Canada, DeSerres delved into art after completing her major in political science by enrolling in a Plastic Arts program. She is a painter, jewelry designer, photographer, and sculptor. Her work explores various forms including realism and impressionism, but her forte is abstract expressionism. She isn't shy about trying out new media and experimental techniques to create her artwork.
Throughout the decades veteran artist, Subodh Maheshwari, has utilized color in unique ways to express to her audience the wonders, affliction, and beauty of the world. In this show, you can witness multiple pieces of work she has made throughout her life. She is an incredible diversified artist, creating landscape, abstract, floral, and symbolic masterpieces. Each of her pieces tell a story, bringing the viewer in, and helping them see life from Subodh’s point of view. There are many things that she expresses with her paintings. Anguish, spirituality, humor, happiness, and most importantly hope. There are layers of symbolism in the colors she uses. That is why color is so important. Hope can be expressed in color, and color brings hope to Subodh.
“For without hope, there is no life...but with hope, you can have new life.”
- Subodh Maheshwari
Betty Collier wows her audience with lively works making their way as apart from nature. She creates both sculptures and paintings, focusing on figurative themes that can include abstract influences in the form of biomorphic shapes. Her main inspiration can be found in nature, depicting many animals and introducing these forms in the context of her pieces.
